The purpose of takiwā tourism is to connect manuhiri (visitors) to indigenous experiences and to support whānau (family) businesses to establish and thrive by providing the tools, sharing the insights and teaching the capabilities necessary for business development and growth.
We are an indigenous enterprise which means our business is driven by purpose rather than profit, so while it looks like we might just be a tourism business, at the heart of it, we’re actually in the business of producing positive social, cultural, environmental and economic outcomes for indigenous whānau (families). And tourism just happens to be a vehicle that allows us to do just that!
